Work

Gouache on parchment, with glaze on both sides.

Miniature in a rectangular cartouche surrounded vegetable tendrils, flowers and fruits on a golden background.  Under the depiction of Mary and the angel are Latin lines in majuscules written from the Horae beatae Mariae Virginis.
A scene from the Annunciation is pictured above it.

Mary is dressed in a gold-covered blue cloak and is placed underneath a canopy.  Between Mary and the angel a vase with white lilies is placed. The lilies are symbolizing Mary’s purity, innocence, fertility and connection to the divine.

On the backside of the miniature further lines of latin text can be found, surrounded by tendrils.
